"The Finest Art on Water": Christian Jankowski Collaboration with CRN & Riva at the CCA in Warsaw

The Finest Art on Water’: Christian Jankowski Collaboration with CRN & Riva at the CCA in Warsaw

June 8th – August 25th, 2013
Opening of the exhibition: June 7th, 2013 at 6 p.m.
Gallery 2
Centre for Contemporary Art - Ujazdowski Castle

CRN and Riva, two luxury yachting brands of the Ferretti Group, will be shown as part of a selection of works from Berlin-based artist Christian Jankowski at exhibition Heavyweight History at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw. Curated by Ewa Gorzadek, ‘The Finest Art on Water’ will be part of the artist’s presentation of pieces created during 1992 - 2012.

Jankowski aims to engage directly with the idea of sales and exchange and the value of luxury goods. The Finest Art on Water is not only a yacht but also an artwork; an exclusive, ready-made art piece that implicates, involves and engages the spectator. According to Jankowski, "The yacht is the perfect sculpture, a perfect self-contained vessel of information. When you see the yachts lined up at Venice it is an exhibition in itself."

Visitors to the installation will play the part of prospective buyers, as they view the interior and listen to the description of the boat. Jankowski’s work encompasses film, video and performance in which, consciously or subconsciously, viewers become active participants.

Jankowski collaborated with yacht builders CRN, featuring a 68m vessel, whose exteriors and interiors lines were designed by Officina Italiana Design, and have been produced by the shipyard in the contemporary artwork. The Aquariva Cento, a limited edition boat, also designed by Officina Italiana Design, that is available as a tender for CRN superyachts, will also be sculpturally displayed as part of the installation, simultaneously challenging an art audience and yacht lovers alike.

“Following the success of Frieze in 2011, we are really excited to be showcasing our collaboration once again at Christian Jankowski’s exhibitionand to have the opportunity to engage with people in this unique way. Our yachts combine cutting edge technology with stunning designs, premium materials and the finest craftsmanship. This project with Christian Jankowski allows us to work in an environment which transcends a yacht from an object to a piece of art,” comments Luca Boldrini, CRN Sales & marketing Director.

CRN specialises in the construction of fully customised steel and aluminium displacement megayachts ranging from 40 to 90 metres, and a displacement line made of composite (43 metres long CRN Navetta 43). This is an important year for CRN, celebrating its 50th Anniversary and marking its resilience and success despite its position in a complex market, which has seen the loss of many established brands.

EDITORS NOTES

Christian Jankowski Heavy Weight History

The Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw has prepared the first in Poland, comprehensive presentation of works from the outstanding German artist, Christian Jankowski. The extensive presentation of Christian Jankowski’s work at the CCA consists of a retrospective display of the artist's most important works from 1992 – 2012.

The artist developed an original artistic practice with which he synthesizes performative and participatory strategies in his film works, installations, photography, and objects. Jankowski undermines clichés and in a refreshing manner, he uses formats that are ubiquitous in mass culture to provoke reflection on the role of the artist as well as art in contemporary society. The collaborative nature of Jankowski's practice is paramount, as each participant unwittingly contributes his or her own texture. With Jankowski, there is as much emphasis on the journey as the destination, and the risks and chances inherent in his collaborations ultimately give surprising shape to the final works.

CRN & Current Projects

The history of CRN is a story full of successes, which have been accumulating right from the beginning. Set up by Sanzio Nicolini in 1963, the shipyard immediately established itself in a market which targeted a very selected clientele. This has been the guiding principle behind CRN right from the outset and has earned it a position among the top world builders of luxury mega yachts in association with important designers who helped establish the brand internationally.

Six CRN yachts are currently being manufactured at the Ancona Shipyard, including five steel and aluminium yachts - CRN 129 80 m, CRN 131 74 m (both designed by Zuccon International Project), CRN 132 73 m (designed by Omega Architects), CRN 133 60 m (designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design), CRN 134 55m (designed by Nuvolari & Lenard) – and one 43m CRN Navetta 43 made of composite, also designed by Zuccon International Project.

AQUARIVA SUPER THE ICONIC MODEL OF RIVA FLEET WILL BE UNVEILED AS A STAR IN QINGDAO BOAT SHOW FOR ITS PREMIÈRE

Aquariva Super, which represents the most natural evolution of Riva style from past to present, will be celebrated with a real unveiling as a star at the Ferretti Group booth.

With its modern elegance and style, Aquariva Super has confirmed its success on all continents, just as the legendary Aquarama - now a cult yacht for collectors all over the world - did a few decades ago.
Aquariva Super is the result of a close working relationship between Officina Italiana Design, the studio that exclusively designs all yachts in the Riva range and the team of engineers and designers of the Ferretti Group.

“After the establishment of the Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Ltd., based in Hong Kong, and the participation at Hainan Rendez-Vous and China International Boat Show in Shanghai, we are very proud to continue our intense program of participation in major Asia Pacific events unveiling at the Qingdao Boat Show, Aquariva Super, the real ambassador of Riva all over the world” said Ferruccio Rossi, Ferretti Group CEO.

The stainless steel details are master pieces of design: the air intake, the bow nose is hand-moulded on each boat. The search light is a hallmark of Riva made up of more than 200 parts. The mahogany deck realized with maple inserts obtained from solid wood is protected by 18 hands of varnish.
The automatic gear box with the electronic 2-speed control improves the acceleration at lower speed, cruise speed and optimizes the top speed.
The innovative, electronically-controlled, two speed gearbox reveals all the gritty passion of the two powerful 380 hp Yanmar motors featuring an exceptional performance: 41 knots of maximum speed and 36 of cruising speed.

THE FERRETTI GROUP TAKES PART IN THE QINGDAO INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW 2013 THUS ENDING ITS "TOUR" IN THE COUNTRY OF THE DRAGON

THE FERRETTI GROUP TAKES PART IN THE QINGDAO INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW 2013 THUS ENDING ITS “TOUR” IN THE COUNTRY OF THE DRAGON

-         Following the great success at the two exhibitions devoted to boating and luxury held in Hainan and Shanghai, the Group reaches the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, where, from 23 to 26 May, it will present two of the most exclusive models in its range:  Aquariva Super and Pershing 82’.

Forlì, 23 May 2013 – The Ferretti Group, one of the world leaders in the design, construction and sale of motor yachts, with a unique portfolio of some of the most exclusive and prestigious brands worldwide, concludes its “tour” of the leading boating and luxury shows in China: after Hainan and Shanghai, the Group is now taking part in the Qingdao International Boat Show 2013, held from 23 to 26 May at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, where it is displaying two of the most prestigious yachts in its fleet: Aquariva Super for the Riva brand, a 33 footer featuring soft and stylish lines, and the new Pershing 82’ representing the Pershing brand, characterized by an even more streamlined and aggressive profile.

Taking part in these three important spring events in China has allowed the Ferretti Group to present its yachts at best in this region too - true works of art that epitomise the Group’s outstanding production skills and the entirely made-in-Italy process that has always characterised all the Group’s brands.

During the Qingdao Show a press conference was also held by Ferruccio Rossi, Ferretti Group’s CEO, and Mauro Frattesi, President and CEO of Ferretti Group Asia Pacific, who illustrated the Group’s development guidelines for the next few years to the owners and media of Northern China, where Qingdao is located. Also thanks to its strategic partnership with the Weichai Group, the Ferretti Group is indeed aiming to expand further in the entire Asia Pacific area - an important market for the future growth of the boating business -, with a special focus on Greater China, Thailand, Australia and Singapore. In order to further develop in this region the Ferretti Group has thus decided to strengthen its presence in the area by establishing its subsidiary Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Ltd., based in Hong Kong. In 2013 the Group will also aim to create a strong local team as well as to open a series of commercial offices and show rooms in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Qingdao, Xamien and Sanya.

Just on the occasion of the first participation in a Chinese show of the Aquariva Super (the first model to be launched since Riva joined the Ferretti Group and the symbol of this brand), the exclusive book published early in 2013 and dedicated to Riva’s 170th anniversary was presented to a large number of guests representing the Chinese business world and to the local media. The book was introduced by its author and publisher, journalist Riccardo Sassoli.

We are concluding our tour in China and are extremely satisfied with the results we have achieved, fully aware of the great distance we have covered so far, but also of the long way that still lies ahead of us. Our stands at the various shows we have taken part in have been visited by a large public, made up of pleasure boating enthusiasts, not only from China, but from all over the world, as well as by the media and by our partners, who wanted to show their interest towards a sector that is now gaining importance in this part of the world too”, stated Ferretti Group’s CEOFerruccio Rossi. “This is why our objective over the next few years will be to meet at best these expectations and the great interest we have perceived by producing more and more innovative models, designed taking into consideration the specific needs of this region, which is playing an increasingly important role for the medium-long term global development of the boating sector”.

THE NEW MODELS PRESENTED AT THE QINGDAO INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW 2013

AQUARIVA SUPER
Aquariva has become the symbol of Riva’s style and contemporary elegance and successfully established its presence on all continents, just as the legendary Aquarama – which is now a cult-yacht for collectors all over the world - had done in the past. Aquariva Super is the result of the cooperation between Officina Italiana Design, the design firm that “signs” all Riva yachts, and the Ferretti Group’s team of engineers and designers. The soft, stylish lines of this 33 footer convey the unique “taste” of tradition, and the fine woods used for the deck – mahogany with maple engravings – on this timeless model further increase the pleasure of yachting while ensuring unmatched comfort and emotions. The stainless steel details, like the air intake, are true design masterpieces; the bow is hand-shaped on every single yacht. The search light is a typical element on Riva yachts and consists of more than 200 components. The mahogany deck with solid maple engravings is protected by 18 layers of paint. The electronic two-speed automatic transmission improves minimum cruising speed acceleration and optimises maximum speed performances. This innovative electronic two-speed transmission, which comes standard on this model, reveals all the passion and strength of the two powerful 380 hp Yanmar engines, resulting in outstanding performances: a maximum speed of 41 knots and a range of 150 miles at cruising speed.

RIVA 75' VENERE SUPER DEBUTS IN ASIA PACIFIC

Riva 75’ Venere Super, one of the models produced by the historical shipyard which has just celebrated 170 years of history, was displayed from April 18th to 21st at Singapore Yacht Show.

“After the establishment of the Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Ltd., based in Hong Kong, and the participation at Hainan Rendez-Vous and China International Boat Show in Shanghai, we are very proud to continue our intense program of participation in major Asia Pacific events unveiling at the Singapore Yacht Show, 75' Venere Super, one of the top models of Riva, iconic brand in international yachting and symbol of Made in Italy all over the world” said Alessandro Tirelli, Ferretti Group Asia Pacific Sales Director.

75’ Venere Super, latest edition of 75’ Venere, showcases innovative changes to the space and furnishings. Developed by Officina Italiana Design - the exclusive designer of all the yachts in the Riva range - in cooperation with the  team of Ferretti Group’s naval engineers and architects - have been renewed in the interiors and exteriors, with the perfection and painstaking care over detail which are typical to Riva, in order to offer greater comfort during cruising and optimize space.

The flybridge of the new 75’ Venere Super has been enriched with a hard top featuring an elegant, aerodynamic line and a comfortable, six seater sofa ensuring the Owner’s total ease of use. The stern opens out onto a spacious swim platform, the best solution for free time and practicing water sports.

A large window fitted in the hull provides an unusual, very pleasant view of the surface of the water, ensuring more natural light for the guest cabins especially the full-beam Master cabin. The latter features a study area, vanity unit with foldaway pouf, LCD television and walk-in closet. Each cabin has direct access to an en-suite head, and the guest cabins have twin beds that can be pushed together to make one if necessary.

The interior furnishings have also been altered and improved in the Super version, focusing on a simple, refined style. The use of bleached oak with Africa and sand coloured leather, white lacquer and new colouring of the galley and helm station make the various areas even more elegant and refined.

Removing the stairway from the salon to the flybridge has made it possible to extend the flybridge sundeck and, below deck, to create a more functional galley with new units and a side-by-side fridge-freezer.
Said removal has also made it possible to insert a mirror wall overlooking the salon, which gives this area more depth.
The partition wall between the helm station and dinette, now equipped with new motorised leather Venetian blinds, plays on light and depth thanks to the use of steel details and a mirror fitted on the door. Moreover, the new colouring of the leather in the dinette, now also on the ceiling, gives the area a completely different impact to that of the previous version. Another innovation is a new hatchway that allows the easy transfer of plates and food between the galley and the more formal dining area.
As for the serving hatch, when open onto the galley it is set facing the day opening, creating a display case effect. When closed, it separates the dinette area from the galley, guaranteeing Owners and guests complete privacy.

The colour of the hull is Roman Bronze and the superstructure Riva Cream.

The standard version of the yacht features twin MTU 10V 2000 M93, power 1524 mhp, which drive her to a top speed of 31,5 knots and a cruise speed of 28 knots. The optional version features twin MTU 10V 2000 M94 power 1623 mhp, delivering a top speed of 32,5 knots and a cruise speed of 29 knots.

"Italian Obsession": Riva on display at Salone del Mobile 2013, Milan

RestartMilano presents
OSSESSIONE ITALIANA

"The hardest thing when there is an obsession is to think of something else." (Sabrina Grasso)

"Ossessione Italiana" is an exhibition-event focused on the planning and execution expertise of the best Italian production, a process founded on passion for detail and quality of the product, on obsession as a foundation of Made in Italy.

Ossessione Italiana will be presented from 6 to 14 April 2013, part the city circuits of MiArt and of the Fuorisalone events during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.

The exhibition, curated by RestartMilano, is hosted by MdP1, one of the historic buildings in Brera, a few steps from La Scala, which is currently undergoing a major redevelopment to provide, from its original function, new living spaces of the highest quality.

In "Ossessione Italiana" RestartMilano brings together a range of products and projects that follow, from the specifics of their individual histories, the same thread of a passion for quality and details "for its own sake", one which originates from the need of expression of the individual authors, rather than from mere market positioning.

Along with some established products, there will be new projects that develop and expand the work done over the last few years. In the exhibition, RestartMilano is previewing five new items, including a system of modular bookcases and a new wall desk.

With "Ossessione Italiana" RestartMilano wanted to include his 2013 collection in a context of affinities based on the same values that guide its research.

Thus the choice to show, among others, the meticulously tailored shirts of Finollo, the rough grace of the Seppietta speedboat by Riva, the love of decor and the great manual skills of the Sicilian embroiderers, the traditional craftsmanship of Ebanisteria Ghianda, the opportunity of the New of Adriano Olivetti, the urban utopias investigated by Patrizio Di Massimo, the exclusive confectionery specialties of Babbi and the culinary excellence of Triangolo dell’Olio.

MdP1 and RestartMilano want to donate this enriching eperience to their guests through an exhibition that brings together objects related to the world of art, design, boating, fashion and superb craftsmanship.
