Ferretti opens the new nautical year at the Festival International de la Plaisance in Cannes
Cannes, 10th September 2008 –Ferretti S.p.A., parent company of Ferretti group, a world leader within the sphere of designing, building and marketing luxury motoryachts, which encompasses nine of the most exclusive and prestigious brands in the nautical world (Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Itama, Bertram, Riva, Apreamare, Mochi Craft, CRN and Custom Line), opens the first and most anticipated event of the 2008-2009 nautical season in Cannes by presenting an incredible 43 yachts, of which 11 are world previews and 1 is a European preview.
This milestone comes at the end of a particularly important nautical year for the company, which recently celebrated 40 years since its foundation, having achieved many aims over the years and developed innovations which have upheld it as one of the leading companies in its sector time and time again.
Technological innovation has taken precedent during the course of the 2007-2008 nautical year. Two important technological innovations developed by AYT (Advanced Yacht Technology), Ferretti Group’s naval research and design centre, were presented as world previews, further establishing AYT’s commitment and dedication to the importance of environmental issues. As a result of the significance that AYT has placed on these issues, major developments have been made including a hybrid propulsion system, which, for the very first time, allows for yachts measuring over 20 metres to cruise in 'Zero Emission Mode'. Also, the highly innovative 'transplaning' Fer.Wey hull, which makes it possible for a yacht to cruise in total comfort and energy efficiency at an average range of speed. Moreover, Ferretti group renewed its agreement with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the installation of the ARG (Anti Rolling Gyro) on brand yachts, granting a world exclusive to Ferretti until 2011. This anti-rolling gyro system allows for a reduction of over 50% in the rolling motion caused by wave movement.
Commercially, both the already consolidated European market and other emerging markets have continued to grow, such as those of Eastern Europe, the Far East (particularly India and China) and the Middle East, one of the company’s strategic priorities. Thanks to growing investments in marinas and infrastructures, the nautical sector in these areas, particularly in the Middle East, is experiencing an incremental growth. This is proven by the fact that Ferretti Group has also strengthened its network of dealers, both in terms of quantity and the quality of service that is being offered. To this regard, the totally innovative agreement announced by ACI Real Estate, an affiliate of Alternative Capital Investments of Germany, and Ferretti Group, for the branding of luxury waterfront residences “Ferretti Luxury Beach Residence” and “Pershing Luxury Beach Residence” in Dubai is particularly important and strategic for the market development in this area.
The American market has always been a highly strategic area for the company, and a particularly important movement took place in August 2008, when Ferretti acquired the assets, brands and activities of Allied Richard Bertram Marine Group. This American company specializes in After Sales service and marketing of both new and pre-owned motor yachts, as well as brokerage services. This new acquisition has further strengthened Ferretti group’s position in the American market, enabling it to strategically infiltrate important sectors with a high added value, such as distribution and After Sales assistance services.
Ferretti has invested heavily in consolidating and developing its production units, particularly the three nautical poles, which are currently feathers in the Italian shipbuilding industry’s cap. The successful nautical pole of Ancona, where CRN and Custom Line craft up to 85 meters are built, was further strengthened. Construction was almost entirely completed on the poles of La Spezia, the reference point for all group that provides technical, logistical and commercial support in the basin of the Ligurian Sea and High Tyrrhenian and the production area for Riva yachts measuring over 68’, and of Torre Annunziata, the modern pole for the sports craft, which faces the Mediterranean and offers assistance services to all group brands. Moreover, in order to further enhance the many synergies which already exist between the Apreamare and Itama brands, the progressive transfer of Itama activities to the Torre Annunziata facilities has also begun. Finally, Ferretti inaugurated a new shipyard in Fano. The new shipyard is completely dedicated to the construction of Custom Line yachts, and fully meets the criteria of the most advanced international boatyards for maxi yachts in composite material.
Other ambitious projects have also been developed concerning services for the boating industry. A few months ago, Ferretti, always attentive to its clients’ requirements, established a Service Division whose aim is to develop and coordinate a range of activities that the company considers strategic in assisting clients and increasing their loyalty to Ferretti brands over the next years. Among these After Sales technical services, insurance, leasing, yacht mooring space management and brokerage services will certainly play an important role. Ferretti will also continue its training courses and provide opportunities for captains to meet and discuss the management of luxury motoryachts, proving the significance Ferretti has always placed on its owners, dealers and captains.
The 2008-2009 nautical year begins with the presentation of 12 brand new yachtsas previews at the Cannes boat show, displayed on a prestigious stand measuring 1,230 m². The brand new models on show are Ferretti Altura 840, Pershing 80', Pershing 64', Itama SeventyFive, Bertram 410 (a European preview), Riva 92’ Duchessa, Riva 68’ Ego Super, Apreamare Maestro 82’, Apreamare 64’ Fly, Mochi Craft 54’ Fly, Custom Line Navetta 33 and Custom Line 112’ NEXT.
“It makes me immensely proud to open the new nautical year with our dealers, strategic suppliers, many partners and the press, and share Ferretti group’s successes with them,” remarked Vincenzo Cannatelli, Ferretti SpA CEO during the traditional Ferretti Meeting opening the boat show, “especially due to the common desire to achieve many more goals in the future. The combination of international growth, the excellence of the technological research and increasingly more attention placed on clients and services are key factors for the growth and development plan that the company has undertaken to date and intends to pursue in the future.”
“This year, which has just come to a close, gave us immense satisfaction. Our 40 years of success are the fruits of the professionalism, skill, enthusiasm and passion of the hard work of the group’s men and women, who have worked as a close-knit team and who were always prepared and eager to seize new challenges,” Norberto Ferretti, Ferretti SpA Chairman proudly declared. “It is always exciting to open the Cannes boat show with such an in impressive number of world previews and such high quality yachts; the result of all the commitment we have put into researching new design solutions.”

With this model, the shipyard is evolving and extending the historical series created in the mid-1970s with Altura 42, a fibreglass motorsailer inspired by the principles of light, comfort and safety. This model was followed in the 80s by Altura 46 and Altura 49, “pioneer” models, which introduced an age of motor yachting that was on the cutting-edge of innovation. Designed by Studio Zuccon International Project in collaboration with AYT – Ferretti group’s naval research and design centre - Altura 840 flanks the previous Altura 690 model, which inspired the design project. This extremely comfortable yacht, with spacious interiors and outdoor areas, features highly advanced technology and finishes with a warm, nautical feel. In order to guarantee total comfort and provide more privacy, the engine room has been located in the center of the yacht and separates the owner’s cabin astern from the crew quarters. All unnecessary noise is absorbed by the intervening position of the yacht’s fuel tanks. A large lounge in the bow, which can be covered to create a shaded area, is the perfect relaxation area that is furnished with a comfortable table and divans. . In terms of performance and speed, Altura 840 is equipped with standout advanced technology systems that are featured on the entire fleet of Ferretti Yachts: two Mitsubishi ARG (Anti Rolling Gyro) stabilizers, which will come standard on Altura 840 and allow for a reduction of over 50% in the rolling motion caused by wave movement. Altura 840 is equipped with last generation Naviop instrumentation. This innovative control system provides user-friendly, immediate touch-screen monitoring and management of consumption, services and alarms. These solutions make it even easier for the crew to access on board systems, offering significant increases in comfort and safety. As for performance, Altura 840 is equipped with twin MTU 12V 2000 engines driving this yacht to a cruising speed of 27 knots and a top speed of 30.5.
Pershing 80’
The new Pershing 80’ is the latest brainchild of yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni and Pershing’s Engineering Department and Ferretti group’s AYT - Advanced Yacht Technology. The shipyard’s very latest challenge is to concentrate on this prestigious segment and forge ahead to continue developing increasingly larger crafts without renouncing to the sporting style, speed and control that makes Pershing yachts so unique. The standard version of this model features powerful twin 2030 hp MTU engines coupled with ASD 15L surface propellers guaranteeing a top speed of 44 knots. A faster version is available and is outfitted with twin 2435 hp MTU engines offering a top speed of 50 knots at 1/3 loaded displacement. Many other features give this yacht an edge over her competitors. It features an extendable-retractable hard top and slide away glass partition formed of two separate sections that make it possible to create a separation between the cockpit and the upper salon, or join them together to create an open area. The dinette in the bow is another new exciting feature, especially when combined with the highly versatile, modular sundeck that also boasts a bimini top. Below deck, the craft has the style and space typical of a megayacht. The galley, which is separate from the salon, can be accessed from the crew quarters; the night area, in both the three and four cabin versions, offers the height of comfort and design, and the unique, open-view maxi window of the master cabin is located in the center of the yacht. Overall, the interior layout is both practical and ingenious, thereby maximizing the opportunities for many activities on board. Other exclusive features include a unique pilot house and sumptuous leather seating and surfaces designed by acclaimed designer Poltrona Frau.
Pershing 64’
Pershing 64’ is the very latest yacht to be designed and developed by Fulvio De Simoni, Pershing’s Engineering Department and Ferretti group’s AYT(Advanced Yacht Technology).
Introduced for the very first time at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in April, this model is outfitted with twin 1550 hp MAN engines and Arneson ASD 14L drives, which push Pershing 64’ to a top speed of no less than 46 knots with a cruising speed of 40 knots. “To surprise the future” was the concept, which inspired each and every processing stage to create this model. This aggressive, streamlined 64 footer, features the spaciousness and luxury typical of flybridge craft, in an open model with the strength of a sport performance vessel. Once the prototype of a sort of authentic revolution in terms of style and functionality, the Pershing 64’ features a number of innovations and is attributed with a long side window, which gives her structure a particularly sleek appeal and makes the interiors much brighter. Also, a slide-away glass partition separates the interior salon from the external cockpit, offering the option of closing it off or transforming it into a large single, open area. Another added feature includes the last generation hard top that slides back to provide the perfect amount of shade in the cockpit.
The interiors feature 3 cabins, 3 heads and crew area as well as an innovative interior layout where the galley is located on an intermediate level and opens up directly to the upper salon.
Outside, this model features all of the options usually only seen on mega-yachts, such as a double stairway accessing the spacious cockpit, a barbecue unit, an L-shaped divan and folding teak table. Under the vast central sundeck, a large hangar can store a tender measuring up to 3.25m in length, using the stowaway telescopic gangway, which doubles as a crane when launched. The innovative windshield on Pershing 64’, built from a single pane of glass, also deserves a special mention, as well as the invaluable working relationship with Poltrona Frau who exclusively designed all of the seating and leather coverings to even the last of the most detailed finishes
Itama SeventyFive
Itama Seventy Five is an open fibreglass yacht measuring 23,54 meters, which can accommodate up to 16 people comfortably. Designed by yacht designer Marco Casali and Itama’s Engineering Department and Ferretti group’s AYT - Advanced Yacht Technology, this yacht features twin 1823 hp MTU engines and Arneson ASD 14 drives, enabling her to reach a top speed of 43 knots and a cruise comfortably at 38 knots.
The exterior profile has been designed to enhance the craft’s aura of power: a high bow, distinctive curved profile, the sleek structure of her slim central carbon roof and imposing carbon windscreen are perfectly expressive features of the sporty soul of this open model, represented through the brilliant balance between design, weight and engineering.
The innovative structure of the avantop means it can slide away to cover the entire front area of the cockpit while cruising in just a few seconds. This area is split into two by the helm station, a single, vertically designed suspended block, which separates the living area from the more intimate, relaxing lounge area to the fore of the console.
Great care has also been taken into the style of the retractable bimini top covering the dinette, which stows away the fabric in a special carbon housing case that closes automatically.
On board, one is immediately struck by the extraordinary quality of the living areas and use of space. In almost 60 square meters in size, this yacht is split into 4 areas and includes a second, private dinette to the fore of the console from which guests can directly access the bow sundeck through a large, front, slide-away opening. This model also has a spacious central cockpit and stern sundeck suspended over the hangar.
The standard layout features 3 cabins (a master cabin, a full beam VIP cabin, and a guest cabin with twin beds set side-by-side) and 3 heads, as well as a twin crew cabin with head. In this original layout, the dinette is remarkably spacious and owners can even choose to include a bar and a 60-inch TV, two ideal features for further enhancing the craft’s propensity for socializing. The craft is also available in a 4 cabin layout (master cabin, full beam VIP cabin, one guest cabin with twin beds, and one guest cabin with bunk beds), 4 heads, as well as a twin cabin with head for the crew.
The finishes of the interiors provide a new interpretation of the typically 70s style, characterized by a beautiful blend of leather and wood, steel accents, white lacquered finishes and curves and angles of the yacht.

Riva continues its adventure in the megayacht segment, with a new, refined model: 92’ Duchessa.
Mauro Micheli’s pencil and his team at Officina Italiana Design have once again managed to sketch a winning yacht. The salon and luncheon area are more welcoming due to a chromatic balance between the shades of the black American walnut and the white varnished wood of the flooring, alternated with white stone in marble powder in the dining-area.
The slightly raised pilot station features a comfortable dinette for the crew. A utility room has also been created under the pilot station. The galley provides access to the three crew cabins, all with en-suite heads. The master cabin is located astern with a full beam head located behind the bed, outfitted with a full shower and jacuzzi. A luxurious Jacuzzi separates this area from the sundeck. The garage is closed by a foldable door, and can house a tender or jet-ski. When lowered, a chaise-lounge on runners can be placed inside the garage, creating a relaxation area suspended over the water.
Equipped with twin 2218 hp MTU engines, the new 92’ Duchessa can reach a top speed of 29 knots, and a cruising speed of 26, with a 360 mile range at cruising speed.
Riva 68’ Ego Super

An accurate, in-depth study of every detail and solution has accompanied the harmony of shape and elegance of volume on this model, with the unmistakeable hand of Mauro Micheli and Officina Italiana Design.
In the cockpit, the sofa can be reclined to face either the stern or the salon and the layout in this area is significantly different to that of the previous model. A teak table and another large sofa, accommodating up to six people, creates an out and out salon. This relaxation area can also be protected against the sun’s rays by an innovative, electric awning. The interiors have been completely redesigned. In particular, the cabins on the lower deck have been enlarged and the deck flooring was raised, guaranteeing greater liveability. The main salon has been relocated to the upper deck thanks to the closure of the cockpit by means of a crystal door. Large side windows and two sunroofs guarantee maximum natural lighting. A central ladder leads to an open space area comprising of the salon and the galley. Apreamare 64’ Fly
Apreamare 64’ fly is a 20 metre craft which brings the shape and method of sailing classical Gozzo Sorrentinos up to date. She is now available in a flybridge version for the very first time.
Thanks to the creative design of Victory Design, this craft was created from a desire to combine a progressive design with classical appeal and pay homage to Apreamare tradition. The result was the Apreamare 64’ fly, a formal, volumetric development of the original Gozzo Sorrentino.
The exterior is characterized by elegant lines, and the bow features the ever-present “horseshoe” divan. The stern, a key feature of the project thanks to its pronounced shape, integrates perfectly with the lines of the hull, enhancing the classical rounded form which has always distinguished this yacht. This area houses a comfortable divan which can be converted into a practical, sundeck as needed. The flybridge version is complete with a large sundeck astern, helm seat and a fully equipped instrument panel for driving the craft through all conditions.

At bow, the VIP cabin features a spacious closet and comfortable head equipped with an ultra large shower stall. Apreamare has seeked out this perspective for the Maestro line, particularly to apply more of a “marine culture” or essence to its crafts, a philosophy that is often overlooked in the designing process. Maestro 82’ confirms that she belongs to this culture and is eager to compete with other crafts of a similar category. Measuring 24 meters, , she offers on-board amenities that make her truly unique and represents living marine life to the fullest.
One of the most appealing aspects of Maestro 82’ is the open feeling of both the exterior and interior of the yacht, it is almost transparent with the application of vertical glazing to the yacht. The size of its hull and superstructure are quite grandiose, even though it appears so light and airy. Among its unique design features the configuration of the below deck area is most certainly worth a mention. This area features three incredible double cabins for owner and guests, and a twin cabin with parallel beds, as well as four heads, all outfitted with separate shower units. The crew quarters can accommodate up to four comfortably and come standard with full head and double shower.
With such a large hull, this yacht can be configured to the owners liking, a luxury that is very typical of larger crafts. Owners can have a choice of creating three double cabins, which can also be transformed into a twin cabin. The driver’s seat can also be tailored and the garage, which is located astern, features a hatch that can be extended out to create a terrace that expands over the sea. Also, keen attention was placed on the configuration of the flybridge area, providing a spacious environment that can adapt to an owner’s personalized options.
The galley and lounge-dining area are designed to accommodate comfortable and elegant living and dining experiences. Maestro 82’ features a range of unusual functional solutions in the cockpit and bow areas that were devised to increase the potential of this yacht, making sure she meets the expectations of a demanding clientele and created to enhance the pleasurable experiences on board.
